Southern Emu-wren (Stipiturus malachurus)

The very long filamentous tail is about twice the length of body and comprised of six feathers and resembles feathers of the emu.
One of Australia’s smallest birds with a body approx 6cm long.
Image taken in swamp heathland with Banksia ericifolia (Heath-leaved Banksia), Baumea articulata (common spikerush), Carex fasicularis (tassel sedge), Xanthorrhoea (grass tree) and Leptospernum spp. (tea tree).
